Streaming media are songs and videos

Video streaming summary:
1) Many web sites allow you to watch video, even live video, without having to wait around for more than a few seconds for it to start.

2) You can see a video streaming when the screen says 'video loading'.

3) Sometimes there is a link that says 'Skip flash' or 'Skip video'.

4) Videos are made and stored in different qualities, sizes and formats to match Internet access mode & speed, and PC OS, platform & capability.

5) In many cases, video is offered in two or more different sizes or at different qualities - so that you can choose the one that plays best with your connection speed.

6) Having a faster connection means you can watch the video at a larger size and better quality.

7) VLC media player is an open source, free software media player and multimedia framework written by the VideoLAN project. VLC is a portable multimedia player, encoder, and streamer supporting many audio and video codecs and file formats as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It is able to stream over networks and to transcode multimedia files and save them into various formats. VLC used to stand for VideoLAN Client, but that meaning is now deprecated.

8) YouTube is a video sharing website on which users can upload and share videos.  YouTube uses Adobe Flash Video technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including movie clips, TV clips, and music videos, as well as amateur content such as video blogging and short original videos. Most of the content on YouTube has been uploaded by individuals, although media corporations including CBS, the BBC, UMG and other organizations offer some of their material via the site, as part of the YouTube partnership program.

9) Multicasting broadcasts the same copy of the multimedia over the entire network to a group of clients.

10) Reality assignment: If you have 18 tutorial rooms where you wish to show live demo videos to students direct from your lab, how would you go about setting this up and making it possible?
